Privacy Policy for AlgoCademy

At AlgoCademy, accessible from https://algocademy.com, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that is collected and recorded by AlgoCademy and how we use it.

If you have additional questions or require more information about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us.

This Privacy Policy applies only to our online activities and is valid for visitors to our website with regards to the information that they shared and/or collect in AlgoCademy. This policy is not applicable to any information collected offline or via channels other than this website.

Consent

By using our website, you hereby consent to our Privacy Policy and agree to its terms. For our Terms and Conditions, please visit our Terms of Service.

Information we collect

You can create an account using either Google or Facebook auth. We collect email and name. Email is used for further communication with opt-out settings.

The personal information that you are asked to provide, and the reasons why you are asked to provide it, will be made clear to you at the point we ask you to provide your personal information.

If you contact us directly, we may receive additional information about you such as your name, email address, phone number, the contents of the message and/or attachments you may send us, and any other information you may choose to provide.

When you register for an Account, we may ask for your contact information, including items such as name, company name, address, email address, and telephone number.

When you use AI-assisted features such as Ask AI Assistant or Explain Mistake, we may collect and process your question, code submission, selected programming language, problem statement, tutorial step, error output, AI-generated response, account identifiers, usage limits, timestamps, and related technical metadata.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect in various ways, including to:

AI Assistant and Third-Party AI Providers

AlgoCademy offers AI-assisted features, including Ask AI Assistant and Explain Mistake. These features generate automated educational feedback and are not human tutor responses.

To provide these features, we may send your question, code submission, selected programming language, problem statement, tutorial step, error output, and related learning context to third-party artificial intelligence providers, including OpenAI. These providers may process this information to generate the AI response and to operate, secure, monitor, and improve their services according to their own terms and data processing documentation.

OpenAI states in its API data controls that data submitted through its API is not used to train OpenAI models by default unless the API customer opts in. OpenAI may still retain API inputs and outputs for abuse monitoring for a limited period depending on the endpoint and account settings. You should not submit personal data, confidential information, credentials, security keys, trade secrets, proprietary third-party code, or other sensitive information to AI-assisted features unless you have the right to do so and the submission is necessary.

AI-generated responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation. You are responsible for reviewing, testing, and validating any AI-generated explanation, suggestion, or code-related feedback before relying on it.

AI-assisted features are used to provide educational support. They are not used by AlgoCademy to make decisions that produce legal effects concerning you or similarly significant effects, such as employment, credit, or eligibility decisions.

AlgoCademy Apps in ChatGPT

AlgoCademy's apps for ChatGPT, such as AlgoCademy Mock Interview, work without an AlgoCademy account. When you use one, we receive only what the app needs to work: the programming language, level or topic you ask for, the problem or lesson you work on, and the code you run. ChatGPT also sends an anonymous identifier for your ChatGPT account, and your IP address reaches our server as with any web request. We do not receive your name, your email address or your conversation with ChatGPT; the conversation stays with ChatGPT and is covered by OpenAI's privacy policy.

Your code is run against the problem's tests in an isolated sandbox without internet access and is deleted right after the run. We never store it.

We keep a usage log so we can count usage, enforce usage limits and fix problems. Each line holds the date and time, the app and action, the problem or lesson, the language, the result and run time, and a short one-way hash of your ChatGPT identifier (or, for clients that send none, of your IP address). The log never contains your code, and its lines are deleted after 90 days. Usage-limit counters, keyed by the same kind of hash, cover only the last hour. An interview in progress (its problem, mode and start time) is remembered for at most 2 hours so that it can be resumed.

We do not sell this information, use it for advertising or link it to an AlgoCademy account. If you follow a link from an app to our website, for example a lesson suggested on your interview scorecard, the link tells us it came from the app, and the rest of this policy applies on our website. To ask about or delete information from the apps, email team@algocademy.com.

Data Deletion Instructions

If you need us to delete your data, send us an email at team@algocademy.com

Log Files

AlgoCademy follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this and a part of hosting services' analytics. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users' movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.

Cookies and similar technologies

AlgoCademy uses a small number of cookies and browser storage that the site needs to work: to keep you signed in, to protect forms against forgery, and to remember your course, language, preferences and code between visits. They are not used to follow you across other websites.

Analytics. Outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we use Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use our pages, through clicks, scrolling and session recordings. Clarity sets its own cookies. The code you write, the editor, test results and your conversations with the AI tutor are masked and are not recorded. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Clarity is not loaded at all; we tell from your browser's time zone, without looking up your location. Microsoft's privacy statement is at privacy.microsoft.com.

Signing in. The sign-in page shows Google's sign-in button, which is loaded from Google. Facebook's sign-in script is loaded only when you choose Continue with Facebook.

Videos. Lesson videos play from Vimeo, with Vimeo's Do Not Track setting on, and from YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com).

We don't use advertising cookies, ad networks or remarketing pixels, and we don't sell your personal information.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser's settings. If you block the ones the site needs, you won't be able to stay signed in.
